Boy Eats Drum Machine, "The Battle":
Boy Eats Drum Machine's newest electronic pop/rock
masterpiece, expertly blends the funkiest of beats with epically
cinematic turntablism, traditionally twangy guitars with lush analog
synth textures, and dark tenor saxophone (in the vein of Morphine) with
impeccably impassioned vocals in a unique
everything-plus-the-kitchen-sink work of genius. “The Battle” features a
dozen songs of original storytelling largely focusing on the human
response to mental, physical and emotional adversity.

Boy Eats
Drum Machine is the ongoing work of Portland, Oregon writer, singer, and
multi-instrumental wizard Jon Ragel. “The Battle” is his latest full
length and his sixth LP since 2005 when he made his debut with a hand
made, break heavy basement scrapper called “Pleasure” (2005 - self
released). Since then, BEDM recorded an eclectic sound scape set to a
story largely owing to Orwell’s paranoid classic 1984 called “Two
Ghosts” (2007 - self released), and “Booomboxxx” (2008 - Tender Loving
Empire), a strutting, swinging, sampledelic, saxophone heavy genre
defier. In 2010, BEDM twice broke new ground with the excellent “Hoop
& Wire” (Tender Loving Empire), an insanely catchy eleven track road
trip; and “20 Beats,” Ragel's all-instrumental, sample-heavy odyssey of
turntablism featuring funky breaks, showing off some of Portland's best
drummers by mining from “Bridgetown Breaks.”

Original,
confident and focused, “The Battle” is a breakthrough soundtrack for
these complex times, and easily BEDM's finest work to date.

L.A.-based quartet Oh Darling’s buoyant new-wave pop has the power to turn the most forbidding club crowd into a sea of grinning fan-geeks. But their reach extends well beyond area venues – several Oh Darling tunes have graced top-rated TV series, film and commercials. Their latest album, Brave the Sound, has already won over a bevy of new admirers.

Recorded in the band’s home studio in L.A.’s Echo Park neighborhood, produced by guitarist Daven Hall and co-produced/mixed by Nathanael Boone (Power), the new album – Oh Darling’s third – includes such tunes as the infatuation singalong “Prettiest Thing”, the insistent romantic march “I Know (You Feel It),” and the exuberant “Gonna Be Yours.” The foursome recently shot a video for the latter song, which was featured on the tastemaker blog Buzzbands.la. Even listeners unfamiliar with Portland native Oh Darling’s name may well recognize songs like the spiky, infectious “I Like You, Baby,” the edgy, compact rocker “Never Go Too Far,” the tender “Love”, the whimsical “Happiness” and the winsome “Colorful Day,” which have been featured on such TV series as the CW’s One Tree Hill, Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva, ABC’s Ugly Betty, Fox’s “Bones” and USA’s Royal Pains, as well as commercials for Volkswagen, network promos for Grey’s Anatomy and Gossip Girl. Most of these appeared on the band’s eponymous 2009 self titled sophomore album, which follows their critically adored 2008 debut, Nice Nice, both produced by Gregg Williams (Blitzen Traper, Dandy Warhols).
Back for it's second year Night of the Living Ales
is the ultimate Halloween party for the craft beer minded drinker
featuring eight unique and special beers from seven Oregon breweries.
This years festivities take place inside the elaborately decorated
actual brewhouse warehouse space of Burnside Brewing Co. and with an adjacent covered outdoor beer garden. To entertain you while you sip fine brews we have lined up live music by The Ascetic Junkies and Boy Eats Drum Machine, fabulous sexy Halloween themed Burlesque from Meghan Mayhem and Hai Fleisch of Rose City Shimmy
and amazing fire performers. Throughout the evening expect on-stage
costume contests and amateur burlesque with prizes like gift cards and
swag to Burnside Brewing.

Brought to you by Burnside Brewing, Maletis Distribution, Yelp and
Ninkasi Brewing this year's celebration brings together seven of
Oregon's best breweries with some unique holiday themed beers:

Burnside Brewing: Permafrost - is Burnside Brewing
Co.'s first winter elixir. It's a big strong ale brewed with 7 different
malts and copious amounts of Columbia and Amarillo hops pillowed in the
middle to give this warming brew a chewy complex malt body and a unique
fruity juicy hoppiness throughout. You wont want to sip this
dangerously strong and tasty beer like you should but pound it . 8.3%
abv 77.4 IBU

Burnside Brewing: Peanut Butter Chocolate Alt - A one-off keg
of Burnside Brewing's take on the traditional German-style Alt bier
malty and carmelly with reese's peanut butter cups infused into the beer
to complement the creamy body and nutty dry finish. It's all the
favorite flavors of Halloween candy you loved as a kid infused into your
favorite adult beverage!

Fort George Brewery: North V - This year we took another Holiday Icon, The Fruitcake, and designed our Winter Seasonal in its’ honor.
A
mash of barley, oats, wheat, rye, rich caramel and honey malts are
mildly spiced with Cascade and Saaz hops, fermented with Fort George
House Yeast then allowed to condition on hand-splintered, rum inspired
oak. A Glase Fruit concoction that includes cherries, pineapple, orange
and lemon peel is dissolved into the finished beer to add the final
touches.
While designed and bottled to age, we are sure this version of the
Fruitcake will not be passed down for generations, but opened and
imbibed at many a cheerful gathering. 7.5% abv. IBU’s Hard To Tell

Oakshire Brewing: Big Black Jack (Imperial
Chocolate Pumpkin Porter) - Oven roasted pumpkins, cocoa nibs,
cinnamon, cloves, allspice, and ginger round out this burly Imperial
Porter. Trick…. or Treat?

Lompoc: 2010 Bourbon Barrel Aged Monster Mash - this batch
was aged in Bourbon barrels for 11 months and cellared for an additional
two. This Imperial Porter has a slight Bourbon aroma with chocolate and
licorice flavors finishing with vanilla notes (8% ABV).
